Shanghai Metro Museum
The Shanghai Metro Museum, the first of its kind in China, occupies 3,000 square metres next to Ziteng Road station on Line 10, in Minhang District. Inside, visitors can drive a metro simulator, walk through a simulated tunnel with a glass floor showing tracks below, view dioramas such as one of Line 1 crossing over Line 2, and enter a 5D cinema with moving seats and special glasses. The collection numbers more than sixty items, with a room devoted to the first line, a working model of Line 4, interactive touchscreen games, a large sandbox showing live operations and signalling, and five real-time operation screens. There are also exhibits on how the Shanghai maglev works and drawings of transport disasters. The shop sells metro-themed items, such as pillows of the mascot Chang Chang, umbrellas with the metro map, rugs, plush toys, cases and caps.
