Founded by Charles Henry Harrod in 1834, it has occupied its current terracotta building since 1905, lit up by thousands of lights at night. Highlights include the food halls, such as the Egyptian Hall, and the fashion, jewellery and toy sections. Since 2010 it has belonged to Qatar Holding.
