Jorge Manrique Footbridge

The Jorge Manrique Footbridge, also known as the Vistabella Bridge, is a pedestrian- and cyclist-only crossing over the Segura River linking the districts of Vistabella and Infante Don Juan Manuel. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, it features a tubular steel arch and a system of cables supporting a deck 53 metres long and of variable width, 10 metres at the ends and 6 metres in the centre. Its original glass deck, with stainless-steel edging, allows views of the river and its wildlife while crossing, although it has needed anti-slip and protective treatments due to wear. Opened on 9 January 1999, the footbridge has become a recognisable feature of the riverside urban landscape, especially when lit up at night. Access is free from both banks, forming part of the walkways along the Segura riverside.
