Belvedere on the Pfingstberg
The Belvedere on the Pfingstberg stands at the top of the Pfingstberg hill, north of the Neuer Garten in Potsdam, and was built as an observation platform. Two lookout towers rise above a very tall podium forming a three-sided courtyard with a central reflecting pool, and visitors climb numerous stairs, both outdoor and indoor, up to a narrow iron spiral staircase. From the upper level there is a view over Potsdam, since the park's dense tree planting blocks the view from below. Concerts are occasionally held at the courtyard's reflecting pool, and the Belvedere's two halls, one in each upper tower, serve as wedding venues.
