San Sebastián Minaret Tower
A small square-plan tower that was once part of a mosque and later served as the bell tower of the church of San Sebastián, now gone. It stands on the Plaza Abul Beka and was declared a historic-artistic monument in 1931. It has three stages. The first, from the 14th century, is of ashlar and on its west face has a horseshoe-arched door with an alfiz leading to a small vaulted chamber; above it remain traces of green glazed ceramic. The second stage, also 14th century, is of brick and shows two horseshoe-arched windows on each side; traces of cut bricks that formed diamonds survive on it. The third stage, of brick, dates from after the Christian conquest and was added to house the bells, with lintelled openings and a hipped roof.
