Medieval shipyards commissioned by Alfonso X the Wise in 1252 beside the Guadalquivir, with seventeen naves of brick pointed arches. Here the kingdom's galleys were built and repaired. After a long restoration, the building has reopened as a cultural centre run by the La Caixa Foundation.
