Church of San Sebastián
Baroque church in Plaza de Anaya, next to the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé. Around 1410 Juan Álvarez de Toledo designed an earlier church for Diego de Anaya, which ended up demolished because of structural problems. The current one was built between 1730 and 1739 on commission from the Dominicans, under the direction of Alberto de Churriguera, who was also in charge of the works at the cathedral. It has a Latin cross plan and an octagonal dome. On the south portal stands a sculpture of Saint Sebastian by José de Larra de Churriguera, and on the east portal there is a niche with Saint John of Sahagún, the city's patron saint. The high altarpiece dates from 1903 and holds a canvas of the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian by Sebastiano Conca, dated 1740. It is the canonical seat of the Brotherhood of Jesús Despojado and houses the Cristo de la Paz and the Virgen de la Salud.
