Theater am Kurfürstendamm
The Theater am Kurfürstendamm is a theatre on Berlin's Kurfürstendamm boulevard, opened in October 1921 to designs by architect Oskar Kaufmann. In 1930 it hosted the Berlin premiere of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's «Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny». After reopening in 1946 as a cinema, from 1949 it was home to the Freie Volksbühne Berlin, inaugurated with «Hamlet», and until 1963 it featured figures such as Giorgio Strehler, Erwin Piscator, Tilla Durieux and Therese Giehse.
