The largest museum in Thailand, founded in 1874 by Rama V in the former Front Palace (Wang Na), next to Sanam Luang. Its collections cover the country's history, from prehistory to the Chakri dynasty, with Buddhist sculptures, Dvaravati and Sukhothai art, instruments, ceramics and weapons. Historic teak-wood buildings such as the Buddhaisawan Hall and the royal funeral chariots are preserved.
