Aterro do Flamengo
Large urban park beside Guanabara Bay, built on land reclaimed from the sea in the 1950s and 1960s. The urban design is by Affonso Eduardo Reidy, with landscaping by Roberto Burle Marx, and Lota de Macedo Soares took part in the project. It links the districts of Glória, Flamengo and Botafogo and has sports courts, lawns and tree-lined walks. From the park you can see Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar). It is home to the Museum of Modern Art, a work by Reidy.
