St George's Basilica

Second-oldest church in Prague Castle, founded in 920 by Vratislaus I and enlarged in the 12th century, in the Romanesque style. Its reddish Baroque façade conceals a sober basilica-plan interior. It holds the tomb of St Ludmila, grandmother of St Wenceslas. Next to it stood the Benedictine convent of St George, which today houses the National Gallery's collection of Old Masters.
