A library commissioned from Michelangelo in 1523 by Pope Clement VII, of the Medici family, next to the cloister of San Lorenzo. It is famous for its vestibule with its monumental staircase, which Ammannati finished around 1559, and for the reading room with wooden benches. It preserves a large collection of Medici manuscripts.
