An imperial mosque built between 1609 and 1616 by Sedefkâr Mehmed Ağa, a pupil of Sinan, for Sultan Ahmed I. It is known for the blue Iznik tiles that cover the interior and for its six minarets. It stands opposite Hagia Sophia, in Sultanahmet. Entry is free, but it closes to visitors during the five daily prayers and you must go with shoulders and knees covered.
