A museum installed in the palace of Ibrahim Pasha, a building from 1524 that stands next to the old Hippodrome of Constantinople, in Sultanahmet Square. It brings together Islamic and Turkish art from the 8th century onwards, with an outstanding collection of Anatolian carpets, manuscripts, ceramics and metalwork. It opened as a museum in the early 20th century and has occupied this building since 1983.
