Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts
Moscow's main museum of European art, on Volkhonka Street, opposite the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. It was promoted by Ivan Tsvetaev, father of the poet Marina Tsvetaeva, and opened in 1912 in a neoclassical building by Roman Klein. It began as a museum of copies of ancient sculptures and today holds art from ancient Egypt, Greece and the Renaissance, and an important collection of Impressionists and Post-Impressionists.
