A tower on a small island at the southern entrance to the Bosphorus, opposite Üsküdar. Built on an earlier Byzantine settlement, the present structure dates from the Ottoman reconstruction of the 19th century. It is associated with the legend of the princess and the serpent. After a long restoration it reopened to the public in 2023, with access by boat from the Salacak shore and from Kabataş.
