Monument to James I the Conqueror, the King of Aragon who took Valencia from the Muslims in 1238. It stands in the centre of the Glorieta, also called the Parterre, a garden laid out in the 19th century next to the Plaza de la Porta de la Mar and close to the Captaincy General Palace. The sculpture depicts the monarch on horseback on a pedestal.
