A contemporary art centre opened on 11 November 2023 in the Palacio de Valeriola, on Calle del Mar, in Ciutat Vella. The building, of medieval origin and raised on the site of ancient Roman Valentia, has about 3,500 square metres of exhibition space and preserves coffered ceilings and Valencian tilework; during the restoration the remains of a Roman circus were found. It shows the collection of Hortensia Herrero, with more than a hundred works by artists such as Rothko, Eliasson, Cragg, Plensa, Kapoor, Barceló, Manolo Valdés or Juan Genovés, and pieces conceived for specific spaces in the palace, such as Jaume Plensa's Tempesta in the main hall and Olafur Eliasson's Tunnel for unfolding time. It offers guided tours and temporary exhibitions; the artistic adviser is Javier Molins.
