India Gate
42-metre-high memorial arch, designed by the architect Edwin Lutyens and inaugurated in 1931, which honours the soldiers of the British Indian Army killed in the First World War and the Afghan wars. The names of thousands of them are engraved on its sandstone walls. It stands at the eastern end of Kartavya Path and, beneath its canopy, there has been a statue of Subhas Chandra Bose since 2022. At night it is lit up and the gardens fill with families.
