Museum in Bab al-Khalq, founded in 1881 and housed since 1903 in its current neo-Mamluk building. It brings together one of the largest collections of Islamic art in the world: ceramics, metalwork, glass, carved wood, manuscripts, carpets and mosque lamps from various periods. It was damaged by a car bomb attack in 2014 and reopened after restoration in 2017.
