A park in the São Cristóvão district, with gardens, lakes and tree-lined paths. Inside stands the Paço de São Cristóvão, home of the Portuguese royal family from 1808 and later of the Emperor of Brazil. The palace houses the National Museum, which suffered a devastating fire in September 2018. The park is also next to the Rio Zoo. For families, the park is a Sunday outing among cariocas.
