Gwanghwamun Gate

The main, southern gate of Gyeongbokgung, built in 1395. It was destroyed several times, and after a complete reconstruction in 2010 it regained its original position and wooden structure. It has three doorways, the central one reserved for the king, and is flanked by statues of haechi, legendary protective creatures. In front opens the large Gwanghwamun Plaza.
