A large pedestrian plaza on the axis of Gyeongbokgung Palace, in front of the Gwanghwamun gate, reopened in August 2022 after its redevelopment. It holds the statues of King Sejong and Admiral Yi Sun-sin, two national figures, and underground a small space dedicated to the story of Sejong. Around it are the Sejong Center and official buildings.
