The main palace of the Joseon dynasty, built in 1395 under King Taejo. It was razed in the Japanese invasions of 1592 and rebuilt in 1867. Highlights include the Geunjeongjeon throne hall, the Gyeonghoeru pavilion over a pond and, within the grounds, the National Folk Museum. It is entered through the Gwanghwamun gate, in central Seoul.
