Documentation Centre Nazi Party Rally Grounds

The Documentation Centre is in the north wing of the unfinished Congress Hall (Kongresshalle), on Bayernstraße, in the south-east of the city. The building was planned by the Nazi regime as the party's congress hall and was left unfinished. Inside, the city museum deals with the origins, development and consequences of the National Socialist dictatorship, with particular attention to the party rallies held in Nuremberg. The new permanent exhibition, "Nuremberg and the Reich Party Rallies", opened in May 2026 after several years of renovation, and with it the whole building became open to visitors again. Outside, information panels explain the history of each area of the former grounds. The Congress Hall, horseshoe-shaped and inspired by the Colosseum in Rome, is the largest surviving building of Nazi architecture.
