Saadian Tombs
Royal necropolis of the Saadian dynasty, from the 16th century, next to the Kasbah Mosque. The sultan Ahmad al-Mansur renovated the pantheon and built the main mausoleum, with the Hall of Twelve Columns in Carrara marble, gilded cedar ceilings and carved stucco. They were walled up by Moulay Ismail and rediscovered in 1917, when they were spotted from an aeroplane. In the garden there are hundreds of tombs of soldiers and servants beneath tiles.
