El Badi Palace
CultureVisit: ~60 min
Ruins of the palace that the Saadian sultan Ahmad al-Mansur began to build in 1578, after the victory at the Battle of the Three Kings, and which the Alaouite sultan Moulay Ismail dismantled at the end of the 17th century to reuse its materials. What remains are the rammed-earth walls, a large courtyard with a central pool about 90 metres long and sunken gardens. Storks nest on top of the walls. The 12th-century minbar of the Koutoubia is displayed here.
