Saint-Michel Bridge
The Saint-Michel Bridge crosses the River Seine and connects the Left Bank of Paris with the Île de la Cité, allowing visitors to walk between these two iconic parts of the city. The current bridge, built in 1857, consists of three stone arches decorated with Second Empire medallions and measures around 62 metres long and 30 metres wide. Nearby are the Sainte-Chapelle and the Palais de Justice, and its vicinity has metro and RER station access, making it easy for visitors to reach. A commemorative plaque on the bridge recalls the events of 17 October 1961, when demonstrators were killed by police during a protest.
