University of Navarra Museum
The University of Navarra Museum, on the Pamplona campus, is a contemporary art museum. Rafael Moneo designed the building, which opened on 22 January 2015. It occupies more than 11,000 square metres of usable space on three floors and a terrace, in the valley between two hills on the campus, with views of the faculties. The art collection draws on the 2008 donation from María Josefa Huarte Beaumont, with 49 paintings and sculptures by artists such as Picasso, Kandinsky, Chillida, Tàpies, Rothko, Palazuelo and Oteiza. The photography collection began with the bequest of José Ortiz Echagüe, received in 1981, and totals more than 22,000 photographs and 100,000 negatives from the 19th century to today. Since 2002 there has been the Tender Puentes residency programme, to which residencies in performing arts and music were added in 2016.
