Berggruen Museum
The Berggruen Museum, also known as the Berggruen Collection, is a museum of classic modern art in Berlin. It holds a collection donated by the collector Heinz Berggruen to his home city as a 'gesture of reconciliation'. The collection includes more than 100 works by Pablo Picasso, more than 60 paintings by Paul Klee, more than 20 works by Henri Matisse (including gouaches), sculptures by Alberto Giacometti and examples of African sculpture. The museum is housed in the Stüler-Bau West building, on Schloßstraße, opposite Charlottenburg Palace, and is part of the Berlin National Gallery. The permanent exhibition is titled 'Berggruen Collection – Picasso and His Time'. The museum received 1.5 million visitors in its first decade (1996-2006). Since 2022 the museum has been under renovation, and parts of the collection are on display at other museums.
