Friedrichswerder Church
Friedrichswerder Church is a Neo-Gothic brick building constructed between 1824 and 1830 to designs by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the first Neo-Gothic church in Berlin. Inside, an iron structure supports ribbed vaults that are non-load-bearing false ceilings. Having suffered severe damage in the Second World War and been restored between 1979-1986 and 1997-2000, since 2020 it once again houses a permanent collection of 19th-century German sculpture, with works by Johann Gottfried Schadow, Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Christian Daniel Rauch, among others. The upper floor displays Schinkel's life and work. The building is an annexe of the Alte Nationalgalerie (Old National Gallery) and part of the Berlin State Museums.
