Garden mausoleum ordered built in 1754 by Shuja-ud-Daula in memory of his father, Safdarjung, viceroy of Awadh under the Mughals. It is built in red sandstone and marble in the style of the Mughal garden-tombs, on a charbagh layout, and is considered one of the last great works of this tradition. It is in south Delhi, near Safdarjung Airport, and is usually much quieter than other monuments.
