Tokyo Disney Resort
Tokyo Disney Resort is a resort and theme park complex in Urayasu, Chiba prefecture, east of Tokyo. It comprises three main areas: Tokyo Disneyland, opened on 15 April 1983 and the first Disney theme park built outside the United States; Tokyo DisneySea, opened on 4 September 2001 and themed around nautical exploration, adventure and the world's ports; and Ikspiari, a shopping, dining and entertainment complex opened on 7 July 2000, the Japanese equivalent of Downtown Disney. The resort also includes the official Disney merchandise store Bon Voyage! and several themed Disney hotels of various categories, alongside other non-Disney hotels on the property. All facilities are connected by the Disney Resort Line monorail, except the Celebration Hotel, linked by a free 15-minute shuttle service. Ikspiari is near Maihama station, on the Keiyō Line from Tokyo, and also has the Resort Gateway station on the Disney Resort Line. The resort is owned and operated by Oriental Land Co. under licence from The Walt Disney Company, and is the only Disney resort in the world not owned by Disney.
