Baths of Caracalla
CultureVisit: ~75 min
Roman public bath complex built between AD 212 and 217 during the reign of Caracalla, on the slope of the Aventine. It is one of the best examples of imperial baths: it had a calidarium, tepidarium, frigidarium, palaestrae and libraries. Today large brick walls, remains of floor mosaics and the underground passages where the heating system worked survive.
