CultureVisit: ~60 min
Museum housed in two adjoining houses from the 16th and 17th centuries, next to the Ibn Tulun Mosque. The British officer John Gayer-Anderson restored them in the 1930s and furnished them with a collection of Oriental art before handing them over to the Egyptian state. It has rooms with wooden lattices (mashrabiyya), inner courtyards and a terrace, and was the setting for a scene in the James Bond film “The Spy Who Loved Me” (1977).
