Sultan Hassan Mosque-Madrasa
CultureVisit: ~60 min
Large Mamluk complex built between 1356 and 1363 by Sultan an-Nasir Hasan, at the foot of the Citadel. It is both a mosque and a madrasa: around the central courtyard open four iwans, one for each Sunni school of law. Its monumental portal and its minaret, among the tallest of medieval Cairo, are considered masterpieces of Islamic architecture.
