Bauhaus Archive

The Bauhaus Archive is a national archive and design museum in Berlin holding the world's most extensive collection on the Bauhaus school. Its holdings include works by artists such as Lyonel Feininger, Johannes Itten, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, László Moholy-Nagy and Oskar Schlemmer, along with teaching materials, architectural plans, photographs, documents and a specialist library. The building, designed by The Architects' Collaborative based on a project by Walter Gropius, has been a protected monument since 1997 and is one of Berlin's most notable works of modernism. The museum is currently closed for renovation until 2027, but maintains a temporary space in Charlottenburg where part of its collections is on display. In addition to the permanent exhibition, it holds around four special exhibitions a year, as well as lectures, workshops, panel discussions, readings and concerts.
