The Bendlerblock, on Stauffenbergstraße, was the headquarters of the Army command and the centre of the 20 July 1944 plot against Hitler. That night Claus von Stauffenberg and other officers were shot in its courtyard. Today it houses the German Resistance Memorial, with a permanent exhibition on the different forms of opposition to Nazism. Admission is free.
