Badia Fiorentina
CultureVisit: ~30 minFree
A former Benedictine abbey founded in the year 978 on Via del Proconsolo, next to the Bargello. Its hexagonal bell tower, a mix of Romanesque and Gothic, marked the hours of the Florence evoked by Dante in the Paradiso. Inside is Filippino Lippi's Apparition of the Virgin to St Bernard, and the Cloister of the Oranges displays frescoes on the life of St Benedict.
