Lexington Avenue

Lexington Avenue is a one-way street running 110 blocks from 131st Street East to Gramercy Park, passing through neighbourhoods such as Harlem, Carnegie Hill, the Upper East Side, Midtown and Murray Hill. Along its length stand numerous historic and architecturally significant buildings, such as the Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal, the Central Synagogue and the 69th Regiment Armory, many of them designated as city, national or National Register of Historic Places landmarks. At its southern end, the avenue becomes Irving Place, a six-block stretch with a more local character, home to historic restaurants and bars such as Pete's Tavern, and venues such as Irving Plaza. The avenue is also known for Marilyn Monroe's scene in the film 'The Seven Year Itch', filmed at the corner with 51st Street. Bus services and the subway run along the avenue, providing access to its various points of interest.
