Hanging Church
CultureVisit: ~45 min
Coptic Orthodox church of the Virgin Mary (al-Mu'allaqa), in the heart of Coptic Cairo. It takes its name from standing on the southern bastion of the Roman fortress of Babylon, so that the nave is suspended above the passage of the old gate. It is reached by a flight of steps, and inside the highlights are the wooden roof shaped like a ship's hull, the icons and the carved wooden pieces.
