Maestranza Theatre
The Maestranza Theatre is Seville's opera house and the permanent home of the Royal Symphony Orchestra of Seville, opened in 1991 next to the Torre del Oro and the Real Maestranza bullring. Its main auditorium, cylindrical in shape and seating 1,800 spectators, has variable acoustics that allow it to host opera, classical concerts, recitals, flamenco, ballet and zarzuela. The complex also includes rooms for experimental theatre, exhibitions and conferences, and the Manuel García hall for chamber opera. The theatre offers a guided tour, "Music and Opera Behind the Curtain", which takes in the stage, the props department, the make-up and hairdressing dressing rooms, the stage machinery and the choir's rehearsal areas — spaces not previously open to the public — complemented by display cases of mementoes, photographs, costumes and audiovisual material.
