Hermitage Museum
Museum housed in the Winter Palace, the tsars' residence built between 1754 and 1762 by Bartolomeo Rastrelli, and in the adjoining buildings along the Neva. The collection began with Catherine II in 1764 and includes European painting by Leonardo, Rembrandt, Raphael or Matisse, the Peacock Clock, the Malachite Room and the monumental Ambassadors' Staircase (Jordan). The imperial rooms themselves are already part of the show.
